SEMINAR REPORT

Topic: NPTEL

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, a seminar on the topic "NPTEL", one of the resource centres mentioned in the first unit in the paper EDU 03 – Technology & Communication in Education was conducted on 13 November 2025 at 3:00 pm, under the supervision of Dr. Chitra S. The session was attended by the student-teachers from all the optional subjects, and a PowerPoint presentation was used to present the content effectively. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce NPTEL as an important digital platform included in the first unit and to familiarise students with its relevance in contemporary teacher education.

The presentation covered the basic facts about NPTEL, including its establishment as a joint initiative of IITs and IISc to provide quality online learning opportunities. Its core objectives were explained in detail. The seminar also discussed major highlights of the platform such as free access to video lectures, well-structured courses, assignment-based learning, and the credibility offered through certificate programmes. These points helped the class understand why NPTEL is considered a significant resource centre for students and teachers alike.

The seminar concluded by emphasising the relevance of platforms like NPTEL in modern education, especially in supporting independent learning and professional growth. Students shared positive feedback. Overall, the session provided a meaningful learning experience and strengthened the class’s understanding of digital educational resources.
